Tropical Storm Fay

Life in Central Florida certainly is interesting this time of the year! The problem with tropical storms and hurricanes is that you just don't know what they are going to do until they do it and it is very hard to make plans and go about the things you need to do.

For example, Caleb had an orthodontist appointment scheduled for this morning. I had to call them first to make sure that they were going to be open, which they were. While we were out, we ran a couple of errands to prepare for the storm and our vacation. The weather was overcast and drizzling off and on, but not bad at all.

Pastor asked us all to pray for protection and safety through the storm and I was trusting in Him to answer those prayers and take care of us!

So, we finally finished what we needed to do and came home to find out that Mark's job had been shut down as a precaution and he was on his way home. We put that time to good use to go over some packing for him and trip details, so it was all good!

All afternoon, it was hard to even believe that there was a tropical system nearby because the day was not going that bad for us. It was very overcast though and just felt like a soup and grilled cheese sandwich kind of day, so that is what we had for lunch - good comfort food!

Now, as the kids are getting into bed, the rains are coming and I can hear the wind picking up now and then, but still not that bad. I am thankful. It makes me think of the song and verse that says "He gives me peace in the midst of the storm." I have a few friends who I am praying that verse for them as they go through situations in their lives. Sometimes our lives are as unpredictable as these storms and we have to live by the moment to see what is going to happen next. But I truly believe that in the midst of it all is a loving God just waiting to see if we trust and love Him more than we are worried about the storm. It is not always easy, but it is always a choice. And those choices help to mold us and help us to grow in our relationship with Him if we rely on Him to lead us.

Hopefully, you are all well. As for us, we will continue to "hunker down" until the storm is gone!

How did y'all do through the night? We have been praying with you and for you all in Florida. Now I know a little bit about what my parents went through being so far away from loved ones in the midst of the storm. But I know Jesus is watching out for y'all and truly trust Him for that. Love and miss you, Tammy
