This is not a great picture, but I wanted to show you all the skirts that the girls and I made. We love the thrift store for great deals on clothes, but it gets frustrating to find skirts that are cute but too short. One day we thought, why not modify them? So we did!We found denim skirts that wouldn't work and cute cotton skirts that wouldn't work and combined them. This is the end result.
While at the Indian village recreation at Jamestown, the kids tried their hands at grinding corn. I must say that we realized how much we love our electric mill!
In front of the Godspeed - the boat that brought the settlers to Jamestown:
Sleeping in a bunk onboard the ship:
Caleb and Mark working the cannon:
This is us being silly on a canoe outside the settlement:
Carving out an Indian canoe from a log:
Mark and Caleb learning about the journey of John Smith:
The excavation of the original site of the fort at Jamestown:
I think we just love trees! Is this cool or what??
This would not happen in Florida. We were walking around the section of the town that had many plots of land where excavations are taking place, we noticed a few deer coming toward the area we were headed toward. This was in the late afternoon, so they must have been getting hungry. As we watched, more and more came out of the woods until there were about 15 deer - mommies, daddies and babies! It was beautiful! We sat down on the grass mesmorized by them.
